Check your status in four steps
- 1Open the official SDMIS “Check Admission Status” page.
Use only sdmis.nios.ac.in. Avoid look-alike sites asking for payment to show your status.
- 2Choose one identifier: email, reference number or enrolment number.
Use the same email you gave during registration. Your reference number is on your registration records and emails.
- 3Submit and read the exact message shown.
Write down the wording and the date. Do not rely on someone else’s description of “pending”.
- 4Log in to your student dashboard for full details.
Payment receipts, confirmation and the ID card are handled through your own login.
What happens after you submit the form
1. Payment receipt
After a successful admission-fee payment, NIOS sends a payment receipt by email. Payment can be made during registration or later from the student panel.
2. Document verification
Your uploaded documents and photo are verified. If verification succeeds, you receive a confirmation.
3. Confirmation + enrolment number
Confirmation arrives on your registered email and mobile number, with your enrolment number.
4. ID card
Download the ID card from your dashboard only after admission is confirmed and the enrolment number exists. Check every detail on it.
5. Study material
The Stream 1 instructions say books are sent within 15 working days after receipt of payment, with a tracking ID.
If your admission is not confirmed yet
- Confirm the payment actually succeeded: look for the NIOS receipt email and the dashboard payment record.
- Check email (including spam) and SMS for any NIOS message about your documents.
- If a document problem is shown, compare the name, date of birth and parent names across every uploaded document before re-uploading anything. Never alter a document to make it match.
- Still unclear? Contact NIOS: toll-free 1800-180-9393 or lsc@nios.ac.in, quoting your reference number.
- No one outside NIOS can guarantee or speed up approval.
The exact fields on the official status page
Read on the official portal on 28 September 2026, the Check Admission Status form (linked from the SDMIS home page as Adm. Status) has three fields joined by OR, so you fill in only one, plus Reset and Submit buttons:
- Email — the address you used on the admission form.
- Reference No — the number your application carries.
- Enrollment No — once enrolment has been granted.
There is no password, no captcha and no payment on this page. If you have lost the reference number, the email address alone is enough — do not submit a second admission form, because a duplicate creates a second record and a second payment to sort out. NIOS publishes a list of fake websites resembling NIOS; the only admission portal is sdmis.nios.ac.in.
Other official pages people confuse with this one
- Student Login — the learner dashboard itself, once you have credentials.
- Check Eservice Status — for requests raised through NIOS e-Services, not a fresh admission. Same three identifiers.
- Find My Details (Students of 1990 – 2017) — for older learners tracing an existing record.
- Download Exam Fee Receipt — proof of an examination payment, which is not the same as admission status.
