Streams and routes

Your stream decides what happens next.

A stream is not just a label. It affects who can register, the examination route, subject choices, fees and timing.

Stream 1 — fresh admission

PUBLIC EXAM ROUTE

For fresh Secondary or Senior Secondary learners

Admissions run in Block I and Block II cycles. The block determines the learner’s first eligible public examination. ODE access for Stream 1 learners is subject to the applicable first-public-exam rule.

Stream 2 — previous board attempt

FAILED / COULD NOT APPEAR

For eligible learners from a recognised board

Stream 2 is designed for learners with a previous board examination record seeking the relevant public examination. TOC may transfer credit for qualifying passed subjects, within NIOS rules.

Check timing

Stream 2 uses a specific admission window. An old or regional extension must not be assumed current for every session.

Stream 3 and Stream 4 — On-Demand

Stream 3

Secondary-level admission through the On-Demand Examination route for eligible learners.

Stream 4

Senior Secondary-level admission through the On-Demand Examination route for eligible learners.

Streams 3 and 4 are ODE routes and are not interchangeable with the Stream 1/2 public-examination path.

TOC is a credit rule, not a stream

Transfer of Credit may preserve qualifying passed subjects from a parent board. It does not automatically guarantee certification, admission eligibility or acceptance by a third party. Verify the subject limit, proof and certification combination before paying.
