Which NIOS Websites Are Official? The Full NIOS List, and How to Check a Lookalike
NIOS publishes its own directory of official web portals, and every entry on it sits on a nios.ac.in domain. Here is that list in full, together with what NIOS itself says about fake websites, apps and YouTube channels.
NIOS publishes the list itself
You do not have to guess which NIOS website is real. Under Contact Us on the main NIOS site there is a page called List of NIOS Official Web Portals, and it sets out four tables: the NIOS portals and their URLs, the Regional Centre websites, the NIOS social media handles, and the NIOS Android applications. Everything below is taken from that page and from the NIOS fake-website notice, both read on 15 October 2026. The descriptions in the table are NIOS’s own, shortened.
The NIOS portals and what each one is for
| Portal | What NIOS uses it for |
|---|---|
| www.nios.ac.in | NIOS official website |
| sdmis.nios.ac.in | Online admission (Academic and OBE) |
| voc.nios.ac.in | Online admission in Vocational Courses |
| asha.nios.ac.in | ASHA Certification Programme |
| eaccr.nios.ac.in | Online accreditation of AAs, AIs and AVIs |
| exams.nios.ac.in | Online registration of exam centres |
| results.nios.ac.in | Online result of NIOS examinations |
| ggt.nios.ac.in | Gender Green Teacher |
| aarambhika.nios.ac.in | Aarambhika Certificate Course |
| bridge.nios.ac.in | Bridge Course (Primary Teachers) |
Three of these matter to almost every learner. Admission and the official fee tables are on the SDMIS portal, your hall ticket comes from the same portal, and results are published on the results portal. Our shorter official NIOS links page keeps the handful you need day to day.
The nineteen Regional Centre websites
Each NIOS Regional Centre has its own site, and each one is a subdomain of nios.ac.in. NIOS lists these nineteen: rcallahabad (Prayagraj), rcbengaluru, rcbhopal, rcbhubaneswar, rcchennai, rcchandigarh, rcdehradun, rcdelhi, rcgandhinagar, rcguwahati, rchyderabad, rcjaipur, rckolkata, rckochi, rcpatna, rcpune, rcraipur, rcranchi and rcjammu. Regional Centre sites are worth knowing because NIOS tells learners to contact their Regional Centre when something goes wrong with a hall ticket or a record, and because some centres post learner notifications faster than the main site does.
The official social accounts and apps
On the same page NIOS names four social media handles as its own: the Facebook account NIOSHQ, the X account niostwit, the YouTube channel listed as the National Institute of Open Schooling, and the Instagram account nioshq. It also lists two Android applications: the NIOS Niyaman app for e-accreditation on Google Play, and the NIOS Darpan app, whose download link is on the same page.
If a social account or app is not on that list, NIOS has not claimed it.
The one check that does most of the work
Every official NIOS portal on the NIOS list ends in nios.ac.in. So before you type a name, a date of birth, a document or a payment detail into a page that looks like NIOS, read the address bar from the right: the part immediately before the first single slash must end with nios.ac.in. A page at a .in, .com or .org name that merely contains the word nios is not on NIOS’s list, however closely the design matches.
What NIOS itself says about fake sites
NIOS runs a page headed Important Notice about Fake website. In it NIOS says that some fake websites and apps provide misleading information about NIOS, copying home pages and other content from the original website for fraudulent intention. It clarifies that all information regarding NIOS is published on the NIOS official website only, and it cautions that responding on such websites or apps “could result in compromising crucial personal information that may be misused”. It states plainly that those websites and apps have no affiliation with NIOS.
Two practical points come out of that notice. First, reporting: NIOS says that if you come across any website other than nios.ac.in displaying NIOS content, it may be reported to sap@nios.ac.in. Second, NIOS advises learners and parents to be cautious of fake websites and YouTube channels, and not to pay money or share personal information with them — and it publishes, on that same page, a list of the YouTube channels and websites it describes as impersonating NIOS. We are not reproducing those names here. If you want to know whether a particular channel or site is on the list, read the official page; the link is at the end of this article.
Where your money and documents actually go
Knowing the right portal is most of the protection. Admission fee for Stream 1 and Stream 2 is paid inside the SDMIS admission portal as part of the registration itself, and the amounts NIOS charges are printed on the SDMIS fee structure page — currently ₹2,340, ₹1,890 or ₹1,560 for Secondary and ₹2,600, ₹2,150 or ₹1,690 for Senior Secondary for five subjects, by category, plus ₹70 for the online application form. Hall tickets are generated on the SDMIS portal, results are declared on the results portal, and notifications appear on the SDMIS notifications list and on the NIOS notice board. Nothing on that path requires you to pay a third party, and no official NIOS page will ever ask for your NIOS portal password or an OTP by phone, email or chat.
We keep a running log of what NIOS has actually notified this year on our NIOS notifications 2026 page, and the official helpline and email addresses are collected on our NIOS contacts page.
Where NIOSPATH fits
So that there is no doubt: niospath.com is not the official NIOS website and is not affiliated with NIOS. It is an independent guidance site. Every date, fee and rule we publish is taken from an official NIOS source and linked so you can check it yourself, and we recommend you do. Official NIOS fees are always paid to NIOS on a nios.ac.in portal, never to us. We never need your NIOS password or your OTP, and you should not give them to anyone who asks.
