Fresh admission year guides
Start with eligibility
Secondary (Class 10)
Fresh learners generally need the prescribed minimum age and acceptable prior education/date-of-birth evidence. The exact document route depends on the case.
Senior Secondary (Class 12)
A recognised Secondary/Class 10 pass is required. College or entrance-exam goals may add subject and timing constraints outside NIOS.
Never assume that eligibility for NIOS automatically satisfies a university, entrance examination or employer requirement. Verify both.
Document readiness checklist
- ✓Recent photograph and signature
- ✓Valid identity and date-of-birth proof
- ✓Current address proof
- ✓Previous marksheet/certificate required for the chosen course
- ✓Category/disability/ex-serviceman proof when claiming an exemption
- ✓Parent-board marksheet and roll details for TOC or failed-board routes
Names, dates of birth, parents’ names and addresses should agree across documents. Do not silently “correct” one value during form filling.
