Secondary pass rule
For Secondary, the examination bye-laws state 33% marks in aggregate in theory plus practical where applicable. TMA is excluded from this examination pass criterion even though TMA remains part of the learner's academic work and result structure.
Senior Secondary pass rule
For Senior Secondary, the learner needs 33% in aggregate and 33% separately in theory and practical where a practical component exists. A strong combined total does not replace the separate practical and theory requirement.
- Check the subject's theory/practical split
- Do not assume TMA can rescue a failed theory or practical component
- Track practical attendance and submission instructions separately
Certification is more than one subject
Certification requires passing five subjects, including at least one but not more than two languages. Senior Secondary certification also carries the prescribed two-year gap from the year of passing Secondary. Future colleges, entrance examinations and employers may impose additional subject requirements.
